“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise” (Heb 10:23 NLT)

//I love this verse. It is one of the top scriptures in my arsenal for fighting the lies of the enemy.

It cautions us to hold tightly to the hope we affirm, or to our faith, depending on your translation. From we moment we become believers, our enemy tries to wrestle our hope and holiness from our hands. He uses doubt, discouragement, naysayers, false teachers, temptation, and idols trying to relax our grip or entice us to let go altogether. We must hold fast to our hope and not become distracted or disillusioned.

But why? Because God is faithful to keep his promises. In sharp contrast to our human dependability, God cannot and does not fail. How exciting! Does that provoke the same boldness and anticipation in you as it does in me?

If God were only to save us from endless death and grant us eternal life with Him in heaven, isn’t that enough? But we get so much more. He provides for our needs. He protects us from danger. And He pacifies our fears. He is everything we need. I find this both comforting and liberating.//
